DTB and the Lower Rhine Tennis Association are organizing Padel Info & Play
Over 30 club officials had the chance to experience the fascination of padel live. Together with the Lower Rhine Tennis Association (TVN) and the consulting partner padelBOX, the DTB invited people to We Are Padel Düsseldorf, where all questions about the sport were answered for two hours. A 60-minute practical session was also on the program before the participants could watch the matches of the professionals in the CASTELLO.
After each match there were panel talks covering a wild range of topics. Mark Patzelt (Resigrass, Austria) at a panel discussion presented an innovative Court System «Building permanent Padel courts without concrete foundation».
“The BOSS German Padel Open will definitely give Germany an enormous padel push. With the first WPT tournament on German soil, we were able to bring this incredibly dynamic sport closer to thousands of viewers both on site in Düsseldorf and at home via TV broadcast on Sport1. Quite apart from the added value that a WPT tournament with global appeal brings to the city of Düsseldorf as host,” says tournament director Dominik Beier, who particularly emphasized the good mood among the Rhineland audience: “We are all having the biggest padel party in Germany to date experienced. It’s nice to see that the players and fans alike had a lot of fun at the event.”
Thousands of viewers and broadcast in 175 countries
The BOSS German Padel Open presented by SIXT extended over a complete tournament week. The game was played in the We Are Padel Club in Düsseldorf and in the CASTELLO with its center court that can accommodate around 2,500 spectators. On the final weekend alone, over 5,000 padel fans flocked to the CASTELLO, and up to 10,000 people attended the BOSS German Padel games throughout the week Open on site. The tournament was also broadcast to an audience of millions in 175 countries. In Germany, the games could be seen live and exclusively on Sport1.
“The tournament made the increasing interest in padel measurable in Germany for the first time. At the same time, this is just the beginning. For 2024, our bar will be significantly higher. Our goal is to double the number of spectators,” says tournament director Beier.
